2023 in review - embedded artistry Papers in systems nice about dynamic conservatism


The end of one year (or at the beginning of the next one) is always a good time to check in. In review, in 2023, a fairly productive was:

It was actually very helpful to create a list of successes for the past year. When I write down my services like this, I see the conflict between What I actually did And What I experienced when I walk through the year.

Because the truth is that I felt the majority of this year helplessly unproductive. On some days I even saw myself as a complete failure and wanted to give up my work. It was a turbulent year of distraction almost every day, and this year there was about three months unplanned time in which I couldn’t work at all. Several advisory projects for which I do not happen. I did not make progress in the inclusion of the monorepo -related changes git or git-filter-repo. About twenty articles that I wanted to write are still unfinished. And I didn’t complete the planned update Design of embedded software for changes.

But these feelings of be unproductive And be a failure are not associated with reality, as this list shows me. You are simple, I’m unnecessarily hard for myself. Setting the bar too high. To judge me too critically. This is not a useful thinking. This type of self -talk is not the way to create high -quality work. It is not a good example for my children, my friends or my community.

Work will always be left. It is natural to have the feeling of having that I could have done more. But we also have to notice when we did a good job.

Work is simply an aspect of life and it is not always the most important thing. I am proud of myself that I can go away when I had to go because I had to spend so much time with my family to maintain a great garden for the first time in years of dear friends because she organizes so many wonderful visitors have. And even then I was able to create the list above. This is something you can be proud of.
